Finding Love in the School Garden — A Heartfelt Gift for Tainan Girls’ High School’s 99th Anniversary (2016)
In 2016, to celebrate the 99th anniversary of Tainan Girls’ High School, we returned to this nurturing ground with hearts full of gratitude, bringing a gift that symbolizes love and blessings — “Finding Love in the School Garden.”
This was my first outdoor public artwork — a stainless-steel “love” character standing tall on a heart-shaped floral stone base, symbolizing:
Love in the heart, the heart full of love, love within the heart
Light and shadow play, the breeze whispers gently — the symbol of love shines in the school garden, like the pure courage and hope of youth.
This work is not just art;
it is a heartfelt letter written to our alma mater,
a sincere expression of gratitude:
Gratitude for the school’s teachings and nurturing,
Gratitude for the teachers’ guidance and companionship,
Gratitude for every encounter and moment of growth in our youth.
Through the days of books and the playground,
reading aloud in the breeze, laughter echoing in the corridors —
that place is where dreams began,
and forever home in the heart.
May this small token of love
quietly stand guard in the school garden,
accompanying generation after generation of Tainan Girls’ students,
carrying love and courage,
spreading their wings toward their own sky, illuminating more lives.
Love is the most beautiful power;
and our alma mater is where this power begins.
Dear alma mater, thank you.
In the glory of your 99th year, we offer one heart, one light,
letting love remain forever in this land.
